In this essay, the author describes the status of postwar Szczecin as a city with an unstable identity, while at the same time considering it an inspiring example of urban border narratives. He treats narrations about Jewish experience in postwar Szczecin literature as a figure of speech that allows discontinuity of identity to be treated as a positive value. On the basis of such texts as Artur Daniel Liskowacki’s Eine Kleine and Witold Duniłłowicz’s Trzy kolory mojego życia, Wolski shows the contingency of the identity of Jews who lived in Szczecin before the war and whose phantom presence is reconstructed in such narratives.Wydział Filologiczny, Uniwersytet Szczeciński828330
